Premarin Without Prescrtiption

1707-47Premarin (conjugated estrogen tablets, USP) is prescribed to help prevent osteoporosis, and to treat the moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms and vaginal dryness associated with menopause.

Premarin is used to provide estrogen (ESS-troe-jen) hormone when a woman’s body no longer produce sufficient amount. It may also be used for the prevention of osteoporosis. Premarin has been prescribed by physicians in the treatment of cancer and other conditions such as deficiency in ovary function, underdevelopment of female sexual characteristics, and infertility.

Premarin is the world’s most prescribed hormone and it is the most studied. Also gaining popularity is estradiol (E2), which is prescribed in the form of skin patches, tablets and creams. Often described as the most natural way to take hormones, the triple estrogens ( TRI-EST) is a combined E1, E2, and E3 hormone. Although available for some time now, TRI-EST is difficult to get and usually available by mail order only.


Women should avoid taking premarin if: You have had breast or uterine cancer:

  • abnormal circulation or abnormal bleeding
  • a blood-clotting disorder
  • undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.

When consulting a doctor about taking conjugated estrogen, report any of the following conditions:

  • heart disease
  • angina
  • high blood pressure
  • high levels of cholesterol or triglycerides
  • liver disease
  • kidney disease
  • asthma
  • epilepsy
  • migraines
  • diabetes
  • depression
  • gallbladder disease
  • uterine fibroids.


Always consult a doctor before taking any medications and consult health care professional if you experience other side effects than those listed. The following side effects may be experienced with Premarin:

  • absence of or irregular periods.
  • blood clots
  • headache
  • nausea
  • abdominal pain
  • tenderness of the breast
  • hair loss
  • facial blotches (increased by sun exposure)
  • weight fluctuation
  • swollen fingers or ankles
  • problems with contact lenses

Warning: Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant.


Premarin tablets also contain the following inactive ingredients: Calcium phosphate tribasic, calcium sulfate, carnauba wax, microcrystalline cellulose, glyceryl mono-oleate, lactose, magnesium stearate, methylcellulose, pharmaceutical glaze, polyethylene glycol, stearic acid, sucrose, titanium dioxide and dyes (dependent upon tablet strength).

Premarin (conjugated estrogens) for oral administration is a mixture of estrogens, obtained exclusively from natural sources, blended to represent the average composition of material derived from pregnant mares’ urine. It contains the sodium salts of water-soluble sulfate esters of estrone, equilin and 17a-dihydroequilin, together with smaller amounts of 17a-estradiol, equilenin, 17a-dihydroequilenin, 17b-dihydroequilin, 17b-dihydroequilenin, 17b-estradiol, and d8,9-dehydroestrone.


Moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with estrogen deficiency.

Prevention and management of osteoporosis associated with estrogen deficiency.

Decrease the risk of coronary heart disease and its associated mortality in postmenopausal women. Atrophic vaginitis and atrophic urethritis. Female hypoestrogenism.
